The synthesis and characterization of a series of alcohol-, alcoholate-, ether- functionalized NHC nickel(II), palladium(II) or silver(I) complexes was undertaken. The incorporation of alcohol- or alcoholate- sites rendered the syntheses challenging, and various unexpected products were characterized by X-Ray diffraction analysis. The complexes were tested for ethylene oligomerization.
