The aim is to get students into touch with highly recognized experts in the field and to improve their knowledge about such surface architectures. The workshop shall cover the topic from the fundamental idea up to applications. Particularly, there will be lectures about
• Overview of LbL systems (Gero Decher, ICS Strasbourg)
• Theory of polymer brushes (Oleg Borisov, U Pau)
• Polymer brushes and networks as starting layers for LbL construction (Jürgen Rühe, U Freiburg)
• Internal properties of LbL structures (Regine von Klitzing, TU Berlin)
• Neutron scattering for the characterization of polymer films (Philipp Gutfreund, ILL Grenoble)
• Applications of LbL structures in medical devices (Philippe Lavalle, ISERM Strasbourg)

For students there will be the chance to present their current work in a poster session to trigger intense discussions with the experts.

All members of the IRTG are cordially invited. We also encourage you to inform your group members or anyone who might be interested in participating. Participation in the workshop is free of charge and travel expenses for members of the IRTG will be covered. External students have to arrange and pay for their travel themselves. Since seats are limited, registration is required. To register or if you have any questions concerning the workshop don’t hesitate to contact the head of the organization team Marcel Rothfelder via email: marcel.rothfelder@fmf.uni-freiburg.de.
